This is a great usage of YouTube. Animus is a band that performs in Philadelphia quite often. I stumbled upon their website and saw this YouTube player. Pretty slick.

Scene From A Movie.

The more I listen to my previous post, “Someone Else,” the more I realize the track sounds like the music behind a scene in a movie where people are doing all kinds of drugs. Not what I was going for…

Someone Else.

This is a song I just started working on tonight. What you hear is probably going to be some kind of intro, and it’s bound to change. I’ll continue to upload bits and pieces of the song until it’s complete.

GarageBand Jam Packs.

I started playing with some GarageBand Jam Packs last night (mainly the Rhythm Section Pack). I’ll share some of my creations later on.

The Key Ingredients.

As a composer, my biggest challenge is being able to translate melodies and accompaniments I hear in my head into an MP3 that I can give someone. I wish there was a little guy inside my head capturing all my musical thoughts.  My mind moves a million times faster than my ability to create.

Since I don’t have that little guy in my head, here’s how I’ll turn my thoughts into that MP3 I keep promising everyone.

  1. Garageband. I can’t play every instrument but I can hear how they fit together. Garageband is simple enough for me to use, and it allows me to create layered arrangements with a wide variety of instruments.
  2. Jason O’Mara. Jason O’Mara is one of the best saxaphone players in Philadelphia. He can also arrange and compose in a manner that strongly complements the sound of any project he’s involved with.
  3. Philly’s Finest Musicians. At lease once a month, I rehearse with some of the most talented musicians in Philadealphia. I plan to turn these rehearsals into live performances soon.
  4. Google Docs. Google docs the perfect place to store all of your written thoughts. I use it for expenses, lyrics and collaboration.
  5. YouTube. If you can’t find it on YouTube, you probably can’t find it anywhere else on the internet. I’m talking about music videos, live performances, albums…you  name it. YouTube constantly inspires me. I can’t count the number of Stevie Wonder clips I’ve viewed on YouTube.
  6. I know I’m forgetting something….

Welcome.

Welcome to my world of music. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to release an album. I’m hoping all of you can help me accomplish this goal.
